Home Field Advantage: Yi, Brick Open Cecil Cup with Win
Joong-geun Yi and the Brick Barracudas opened the Cecil Cup in brilliant fashion today, shutting out the visiting Maui Mashers at Old League Park 6-0 and securing an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Yi, the Barracudas left-hander, was named player of the game as he threw 7 innings of shutout ball.

Brick center fielder Logan Francis helped the Barracudas go up, 1-0, in the bottom of the fourth inning. With the game tied, Francis hit a run-scoring double off Maui pitcher José Montáñez.

"This was a good win for us," said Francis. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."

Game 2 is set to be played on Sunday, October 5th, 2031 at Old League Park. Slated to start are José Montáñez for Maui and Joong-geun Yi for Brick.
