League Championship Game 1 Victory for Aquino and Milwaukee
|
The Milwaukee Meerkats powered past the visiting Brick Barracudas, 3-2, in the opener of the League Championship at Old League Park today. Milwaukee starting pitcher José Aquino threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs, to lead the charge. The Meerkats now lead the series 1-0.
Salvador Velásquez, who won the Outstanding Batter Award in 2032, chipped in for Milwaukee with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Milwaukee manager Drake Olson. "It's usually not just one thing."
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow at Old League Park in Milwaukee. Slated to start are Ernest Metcalf for Brick and Manuel García for Milwaukee.
