Meerkats Hammered by Venet, Drop Game 3 to Barracudas
|
The Brick Barracudas have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Milwaukee Meerkats, winning 8-4 at Old League Park today. Barracudas third baseman António Venet was named player of the game after he was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. The win cuts the deficit facing the Barracudas to 2-1 in the best-of-7 League Championship.
Brick grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and a runner on 1st, Steve Lee delivered a 2-run home run, to make it 5-3 in favor of the Barracudas.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Venet said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Old League Park. Slated to start are Manuel García for Milwaukee and Ernest Metcalf for Brick.
