Brooks Dazzles in Appalachian Win
|
The Appalachian Black Bears picked up a win at Old League Park, knocking off the Atlanta Hurricanes, 3-1. On the mound for Appalachian was right-hander William Brooks, who played a pivotal role in the win. Sandro Vargo got the save, his 34th in 36 chances. The Black Bears bumped their record to 78-78 with this latest triumph.
The Hurricanes had trouble solving Brooks, who surrendered 1 earned run on 2 hits over 8 innings.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Atlanta skipper Frank Ferrara, "and it cost us."
