Injury Shuts Down Rivera for Season
Wednesday, July 12th, 2034
Víctor Rivera had hoped for the best, but expected the worst. Today, he learned from the Philadelphia medical staff that he would miss the rest of the season. The Philadelphia starting pitcher suffered a torn flexor tendon in his elbow in an earlier ballgame. He admitted to being discouraged, but said he plans to come back strong next year.

So far this year Rivera has made 18 starts, tossed 133 innings, struck out 113 batters and walked 42. His record is 10-7 with a 3.65 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .269 batting average.
