It was a week to remember for Alvin Hood. After wrapping up a torrid week at the plate, the Brighton Apples right fielder was named the Sub League 2 Player of the Week.
Hood collected 15 hits in 25 at-bats for a .600 average. He also accounted for 12 RBIs, 6 home runs and scored 14 runs.
To date Hood has chalked up a .353 average with 24 home runs, driven in 67 runs and scored 90 times. |
 | Monday, July 14th, 2014: Great Week for Long Island's Jesse Bobadilla
Jesse Bobadilla must have thought he was dreaming. First he went on an exceptional week-long batting spree, bashing the ball at a .462 clip, then the Long Island shortstop finds outs he has been chosen the league's best performer and gets the SL1 Player of the Week Award.
He told BNN reporters in the postgame, "It was a great week for me. I could see the ball so well. Plus some of the balls seemed to have good eyes, too."
For the week Bobadilla batted .462 (12-26) with no home runs and 5 RBIs.
Presently Bobadilla is batting .294 with 4 home runs and 33 RBIs. He has played in 68 games and scored 47 times. |
 | Tuesday, July 8th, 2014: Pups Litten Out Rest Of Season
The season is apparently over for Jesse Litten. The Flatbush Pups medical staff informed the club that the shortstop will be out at least 13 months with a torn ankle ligaments. Litten was hurt in the game against Spreckelsville while running the bases. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.
So far this year in 82 games Litten is hitting .288 with 3 home runs, 32 RBIs and 39 runs scored. |
