The Appalachian Black Bears picked up a win at Old League Park, knocking off the Houston Armadillos, 4-0. On the mound for Appalachian was right-hander William Brooks, who played a pivotal role in the win. The Black Bears bumped their record to 27-19 with this latest triumph.

It was a remarkable effort from Brooks, who is one of the team leaders. Brooks recorded 9 strikeouts in 8.1 innings while allowing 5 hits. Brooks, who is tied for 5th in the SDMB in wins with 6, moves to 6-4 on the year with 69 strikeouts.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Appalachian manager Jeff Fisher. "It's usually not just one thing."
