Hornets Lose to Reapers, 4-3
|
Philadelphia got a terrific performance from catcher Jean-Charles Gauthier, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago Reapers. Chicago won the Old League Park contest, 4-3. Gauthier was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Chicago.
The Reapers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Lawrence Connolly. For the game, Connolly went 1-4. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 51st hit of the season gave Chicago a 4-3 lead.
Connolly attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
