Victory Pushes Black Bears Record to 42-40
The Appalachian Black Bears topped the Antelope Valley Raptors, 9-3, with left fielder George Candler playing a big role. Candler was 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Black Bears in the win. Nelson Roe picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-2. He struck out 5 in 6 innings. Bernardo Cortéz notched his 1st save in 3 chances.

Appalachian used the timely hitting of Víctor Gonzáles to capture the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Black Bears on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Candler said after the game.

The Black Bears bumped their record to 42-40 with this latest triumph.
