Báez Handcuffs Barracudas, Hornets Seize 2-0 Advantage in League Championship
|
When the games really matter, the Philadelphia Hornets put on their best show, beating the Brick Barracudas by a final score of 1-0 today. Alejandro Báez earned player of the game honors, as he threw 8 innings of shutout ball. Philadelphia now leads Brick 2-0 in the best-of-7 affair.
The Hornets beat the Barracudas in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out double Jorge Benavides produced in the bottom of the tenth. Batting against Brick pitcher Carlos Placeres, Benavides gave his team a 1-0 lead when he hit a walk-off run-scoring double.
"Big win," said Benavides.
Game 3 is scheduled for Saturday, September 27th, 2031 at Old League Park. Slated to start are Michael Leach for the Hornets and Juan Santiago for the Barracudas.
