Cecil Cup Game 1 Victory for Rush and Brick
The Brick Barracudas got a strong 5 innings from right-hander Shawn Rush today to take Game 1 of the Cecil Cup from the Chicago Reapers. Rush held the Reapers to no earned runs on 5 strong innings. The Barracudas took the game by a score of 10-9 and now lead the best-of-7 series, 1-0.

Troy, Ohio-born Elwood Kerr came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Barracudas trailing 9-7, he hit a 3-run home run to left to put Brick on top.

"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Brick Barracudas (probably) 2035 Cecil Cup Champions'," Rush told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Old League Park. The scheduled starters for the game are Tommy Cantwell for the Chicago Reapers and Ernest Metcalf for the the Brick Barracudas.
