Reapers Win, 8-3, at Brooklyn
|
Chicago beat Brooklyn on the strength of starter Johnny Cantú's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 8-3. Cantú, now 1-0, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The Reapers have now won 8 straight.
It could have been a different outcome for Chicago, had it not been for Ben Turner, the two-time Slick Fielder Award winner . Turner contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Chicago up, 2-1.
"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Cantú.
