Hornets Prevail, 3-1, Over Atlanta
|
Old League Park was the site of a tense game between the Atlanta Hurricanes and Philadelphia Hornets.
In a well-pitched game between the Philadelphia Hornets and the Atlanta Hurricanes, pitcher Víctor Rivera was superb. The Philadelphia right-hander helped his team win, 3-1. In 7 innings, Rivera surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run.
A crucial at-bat came with the bases empty and no one out in the bottom of the seventh inning. That's when right fielder Julián Román, who is tied for 8th in the SDMB in home runs with 23, hit a triple. The Hornets went on to win.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Rivera. "Successful pitchers do it."
The win elevated the Hornets to 65-53.
