Venet Stars for Reapers in 8-3 Win
|
Fans at Old League Park had a good time watching the Houston Armadillos and Chicago Reapers get after it.
The Chicago Reapers beat the Houston Armadillos by a score of 8-3. third baseman António Venet deserved the lion's share of the credit. Venet was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 3 for the Reapers. José Rodríguez, the winning pitcher, is now 1-1. He went 8.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 10 and walking 1.
The Reapers got a big at-bat from center fielder George White. For the game, White went 1 for 3 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 3rd double of the season gave Chicago a 4-3 lead.
"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," White said.
The loss has the Armadillos at 5-8.
