Avalos Guns Down Fremont

The Newnan Thunderbears shut out the Fremont Soviets 1-0 today behind the strong pitching of Jorge Avalos. Avalos surrendered only 5 hits in recording the complete-game victory, and struck out 10.
Following the last out, Avalos appeared to celebrate a little too boisterously for Fremont manager Adrián Vázquez, who could be seen scolding the famously outspoken right-hander as the clubs left the field. Avalos's own manager then intervened with some words for his counterpart.
The Soviets skipper would not comment on the exchange, but at the Thunderbears press conference, Avalos confirmed that it was regarding the celebration.
"He basically told me I was being a lousy winner," Avalos said.
"And I told him he was being a lousy loser," Newnan manager Jorge García added.
This season Avalos has fanned 63 in 63 innings and collected a 5-3 record with a 3.14 ERA.

Keikis Come up Short of Playoffs

Kihei Keikis fans are no doubt having a rough day today. The club came close, but in the end has fallen short and was mathematically eliminated today from qualifying for the postseason.
This is the 2nd time in a row that the Keikis have missed the playoffs.Their last payoff appearance was in 2034.
