Meerkats Need Extra Frames to Get Past Reapers
|
The Chicago Reapers got a superb performance from left fielder Cam Burt, but the Milwaukee Meerkats still won the game, 6-5. Burt was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Milwaukee reliever Pat Carmichael was the winner. His record is now 1-0. Alejandro Cruz took the loss. The Reapers fall to 7-12 and continue to sputter in the early going.
The Meerkats got a big at-bat from third baseman Sung-heun Hwa. For the game, Hwa went 2-5 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the tenth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 18th hit of the season gave Milwaukee a 6-5 lead.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Hwa said in his postgame press conference.
