Late Rally by Barracudas Secures Win
|
Brick Barracudas starter Paul Gilbert was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Antelope Valley Raptors, 4-2. Dan Ross, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Carlos Placeres recorded the save for Brick, his 6th of the season.
Brick used the clutch hitting of Elwood Kerr to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Barracudas ahead, 4-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Gilbert said.
The Barracudas raised their record to 14-8.
