Hurricanes Lose to Meerkats, 5-3
|
Milwaukee and Atlanta duked it out at Old League Park and the Meerkats came out victorious.
The Atlanta Hurricanes got a superb performance from first baseman Michael Harrington. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Milwaukee. The Meerkats won the game, 5-3. Harrington was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Manuel García picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-2. He struck out 5 in 8 innings. Ralph Turner earned the save for Milwaukee, his 6th of the year.
Milwaukee relied on the hitting of Salvador Velásquez to pick up the win. The designated hitter clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Meerkats on top, 3-2. For the game, Velásquez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Velásquez told the Milwaukee Chronicle.
The victory makes Milwaukee 15-11.
