Black Bears Solve Crawdaddy's, 6-3

It was a good time at Old League Park, where fans came to watch the New Orleans Crawdaddy's and Appalachian Black Bears get after it.
Appalachian pitcher Eric Hammond did his part in helping his team beat the New Orleans Crawdaddy's, 6-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Appalachian reliever Román Guerrero was credited with the win, to go to 2-0. Qing-hua Tso took the loss for New Orleans.
The Black Bears got a big at-bat from center fielder William Gilmore. For the game, Gilmore went 2-4 with a double. He drove in 3 runs. In the bottom of the eighth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 5th double of the season gave Appalachian a 6-3 lead.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Hammond.
Appalachian, now 17-11, has gotten their season off to a good start.
