Armadillos Lose to Crawdaddy's, 6-3
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the Houston Armadillos and New Orleans Crawdaddy's get after it.
Houston got a terrific game from first baseman Pei Gui. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to New Orleans, 6-3. Gui went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. David Chapa got the win, improving to 2-5. He worked 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 9 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 2. Wei-hong Tien closed the door for New Orleans, picking up his 7th save of the year.
In the bottom of the first, New Orleans designated hitter José Vega had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and one out, Vega stroked a 2-run double to center. It made the score 3-0, New Orleans. For the game, he went 2 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs.
Vega told a New Orleans Times reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The win puts New Orleans at 19-30.
