|
Atlanta beat Toronto on the strength of starter Lyndon Nix's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-2. The winning pitcher was Nix, now 5-4. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 2. Raúl García got the save, his 17th in 21 chances.
The Hurricanes got a big at-bat from first baseman Michael Harrington. For the game, Harrington was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 20th home run of the season gave Atlanta a 5-2 lead.
Harrington attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
