Mepkin Abbey beat Houston on the strength of starter Alejandro Báez's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 8-0 win. Báez, the winner, moves to 6-3. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks.

The Monks picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.

"I thought we played a nice game," Báez told the Mepkin Abbey Today. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."

Even with the win, the Monks have a dismal 35-73 record.
