Hornets Deal Atlantics 5-3 Defeat
|
The Philadelphia Hornets topped the Wilmington Atlantics by the score of 5-3, with the largest share of the credit going to first baseman Dave O'Brien. O'Brien went 2 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Hornets. James Ferguson was the winner. Over 7 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 11 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Anthony White was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 36 of 44 save opportunities.
The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth when O'Brien, who finished 3rd in the SDMB in extra base hits with 75 in 2034, hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Hornets into the lead, 5-3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," O'Brien told the Philadelphia Daily News.
The victory gives Philadelphia a record of 83-58.
