The Brooklyn Wolves beat the Brick Barracudas, 5-2, at Old League Park. The Wolves got a fine performance from left fielder John Hunter, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winner was Brooklyn reliever Zach Sullivan, now 2-5. The loser was Paul Gilbert. Brooklyn bumps their record to 72-74 with the win.
Had Jeff Corson not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Corson hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Wolves.
"I thought we played a nice game," Hunter told the Brooklyn Times. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
