New Orleans Decked by Gonzáles, Black Bears

It was a good time at Old League Park, where fans came to watch the New Orleans Crawdaddy's and Appalachian Black Bears get after it.
Appalachian right fielder Víctor Gonzáles played a vital role in his team's 9-0 triumph over New Orleans. He belted 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for Appalachian. Dave Klein got the win, improving to 7-5. He held the Crawdaddy's to no earned runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 4.
Martín Costa chipped in for Appalachian with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 2 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 RBI.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Appalachian manager Jeff Fisher.
The Black Bears bumped their record to 80-80 with this latest triumph.
