First he went on a remarkable batting rampage, hammering the ball at a .517 clip, then the Cincinnati second baseman finds outs he has been voted the league's top performer and gets the SL1 Player of the Week Award.
For the week Cremeans batted .517 (15-29) with 1 home run and 5 RBIs.
This season Cremeans is hitting at a .273 pace with 5 home runs, 45 RBIs and has scored 64 times. | | Sunday, July 13th, 2014: Cremeans Rips Mexico City for 5 Hits Today at Juggernaut Ballpark Billy Cremeans put on an impressive display of hitting -- the Cincinnati second baseman tagged Mexico City pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on his batting spree and lost the game to the Dirty Sanchez by the score of 8-7.
"Hey, the loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it. 5-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, Cremeans remained somewhat somber. "Sure, I'm happy with my performance today," he was quoted as saying in the locker room, "But all that really matters in this game is that number in the win column. We just didn't get it done today."
B. Cremeans doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off E. Torres in the 8th.
