SDMB League News Article | | | Thursday, September 10th, 2020: Bañuelos Collects Cycle Maui's Ángel Bañuelos accomplished what few others have been able to do -- he hit for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that order is known as a "natural cycle."
For the day he finished 5-6 with 6 RBI and 4 runs scored and helped his Mashers knock off the Monck's Corner Monks 15-3 at Old League Park. In the postgame press conference he said, "I didn't even know I had hit for the cycle until after the game."
Á. Bañuelos tripled in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off G. Kos in the 6th, flied out in the 8th and hit a three-run home run off J. Fullen in the 9th.
Bañuelos on the season is batting .438 with 4 home runs. His totals include 10 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has played in 24 games. | |
