All game long Durham College's Román Espinoza was rattling the walls at Sheepdogs Ballpark and banging out base hits against the Buechel College Bison. When the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a 5-hit day and the Sheepdogs had a 19-11 victory.
Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 19-year-old second baseman said, "Get 5 hits, win a ballgame, it's nice. I could get used to this."
R. Espinoza walked in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, singled in the 8th and grounded out in the 9th.
Espinoza is batting .370 with 2 home runs and 21 RBIs this season.

| Friday, May 15th, 2020: Hit Parade: Espinoza Pops 5 Hits
The Durham College Sheepdogs upended the Wildwood Lake College Colonials at Sheepdogs Ballpark today in large part to second baseman Román Espinoza, who had a smashing day with the bat -- he racked up 5 hits in 5 at-bats -- and help propel the Sheepdogs to a 13-8 victory.
R. Espinoza hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
This season Espinoza is batting at a .250 clip with 1 home run and 9 RBIs.

 | Tuesday, May 5th, 2020: Meyer Torches Sheepdogs for 5 Hits
"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Tyrone Meyer after his 5-hit performance against the Sheepdogs. "No offense meant to Durham College, but it was like I was back in little league again. I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Beachcombers Ballpark."
The Rochelle College third baseman had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 7-2 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Tyrone worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Meyer said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
T. Meyer singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off M. Flores in the 9th.
In his 2020 season totals, Meyer has 1 home run, .360 BA, .379 OBP, 19 RBIs and 18 runs scored.
