League Championship Goes the Distance, Maui Prevails
|
The Maui Mashers are heading to the Cecil Cup, having narrowly defeated the Seattle Monarchs.
Maui edged Seattle in the series 4-3, with a win at Old League Park in the clinching game by a 5-3 margin.
Juan Arroyo turned in a strong offensive performance for the Mashers and got series MVP for his efforts.
"I'll never turn down another trophy for my mantle, another accomplishment to remember once my career is over," he said. "What I would really remember, though, is a Cecil Cup win."
It remains to be seen how the playoffs will conclude, but if Arroyo continues to swing a hot bat, his team will no doubt have a chance.
For the series, he hit .500 with a .524 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 9 RBI and scored 7 runs.
The Maui Mashers will play against the Brick Barracudas in the next round. Brick won their series against the Philadelphia Hornets 4 games to 2. The Cecil Cup schedule will be announced after the League Championship finishes.\n
