Meerkats Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus Wilmington
|
The Milwaukee Meerkats picked up a win at Old League Park, knocking off the Wilmington Atlantics, 6-2. Starting pitcher José Aquino, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Aquino got the win, improving to 12-5. He allowed 8 hits and walked 0 over 6 innings. Aquino allowed 2 earned runs. Milwaukee is now 62-32, 13½ games up in the SDMB League Zotti Division.
The Meerkats got a big at-bat from first baseman Héctor Valera. For the game, Valera was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 17th home run of the season gave Milwaukee a 3-1 lead.
"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Valera told the Milwaukee Today.
