Atlantics Come Up Short at Philadelphia
Rick Griffin pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Wilmington Atlantics, despite Griffin's fine outing, dropped a 2-1 decision to the Philadelphia Hornets at Old League Park. Michael Leach was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 9 hits, with no walks and 9 strikeouts. The first-place Hornets have won 4 in a row.

Jesús Mejía, who is tied for 4th in the SDMB in stolen bases with 38, aided the Philadelphia cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the third. For the game, the second baseman drove in one run.
