Breaking News Friday, May 29th, 2020: Sung-heun Hwa Captures SDMBHS Outstanding Hitter Award Sung-heun Hwa of the Tampa HS Loggers had a fine season this year and today he accepted the Outstanding Hitter Award for 2020. The 17-year-old third baseman put up a .453 average and a .539 on-base percentage, piling up 73 hits, 16 doubles, no triples, 11 home runs, 52 RBIs and 53 runs scored. Thursday, May 28th, 2020: Loggers Star Wins Outstanding Pitcher Award The Tampa HS clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Russ Singleton will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 2020 SDMB High School Outstanding Pitcher Award. Singleton made 9 starts this year, winning 6 and losing 1. He threw 45.2 innings, fanned 59, allowed 62 hits and 11 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .310 average as he logged an impressive 2.76 ERA. Friday, May 15th, 2020: Hit Streak Now at 32 for Hwa The Kansas City HS Squirrels whipped Tampa HS today 7-6, but didn't stop Sung-heun Hwa's consecutive-game hitting streak. The Loggers third baseman collected 2 hits and pushed the number to 32 games in a row. S. Hwa grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off S.
