Wednesday, July 9th, 2014: Sternwheelers Blank Steamers, Wooster Wins
In an excellent mound performance, Frank Wooster of the River Cities Sternwheelers whitewashed the Cleveland Steamers 6-0 on a 1-hitter.

He said after the game, "I had my best stuff and did a good job of mixing up my pitches."

The Cleveland manager said, "We just didn't swing the bats well today. Wooster did a good job keeping us guessing."

In all, the River Cities hurler rang up 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in the shutout win.

In pitching stats this season Wooster has rung up 8 wins and 3 losses in 16 games. He has an ERA of 3.05 and has fanned 77 batters in 106.1 innings.
Monday, July 7th, 2014: Sternwheelers Hukill Suffers Injury
River Cities fans will be disappointed to learn that John Hukill developed a damaged meniscus while colliding with a player at a base in today's game. After the doctor informed the River Cities Sternwheelers manager that Hukill was expected to miss 3 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the shortstop could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.

Hukill has collected 101 hits for the Sternwheelers this year, 26 of them home runs. He has also netted 68 RBIs and scored 60 runs while batting .336.
Tuesday, July 1st, 2014: ZL Selects Rookie Star of the Month
Jesse Dubreuil's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young River Cities left fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month.

In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award.

During the month he hit .329 with 6 doubles, 2 triples and 3 home runs. Dubreuil also scored 14 times and drove in 14 runs.

This season in 73 games, Dubreuil has hit at a .316 clip with 74 hits, 7 home runs, 31 RBIs and 37 runs scored.
