Los Angeles first baseman Ronald Aikin could do no wrong in today's 9-8 win over the Dans as he collected 5 hits.
"In every one of his at-bats things were in his favor... he got hitter's counts," the skipper of the Dans said to the press corps after the game.
Aikin agreed. "The key is getting ahead. Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit. You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
R. Aikin singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off J. Lewis in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off M. McCraw in the 8th.
Presently Aikin is batting .325 with 80 hits and 17 home runs. He has knocked in 53 runs and scored 45 times.

 | Sunday, June 1st, 2014: Goss Batters Danville for 5 Hits
The Steamers whipped the Dans 12-2 at Old League Park and Monte Goss had a big hand in the win. The Steamers right fielder came to the plate 5 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Goss and a tough day for Danville.
"I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan."
Plan or not, Goss delivered today -- 5-5 is outstanding in any league.
M. Goss singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This year Goss is batting .357 with 82 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 44 times and has batted in 39 runs.

Ferdinand Pineda is the latest Zotti League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Danville starter shined on the hill time and again last month and finished May with a sparkling 4-0 record.
In 6 starts he tossed 41.2 innings, posted 45 strikeouts, and put up a 0.43 ERA.
This year Pineda has worked 63.1 innings with 71 strikeouts en route to a 6-1 record and 1.99 ERA.
