Breaking News | | Friday, May 15th, 2020: Sandpipers Stop Brown at 23 It was the best of both worlds for the Riverside HS Sandpipers today at Sea Dogs Ballpark as they defeated the Toledo HS Sea Dogs 8-5 and also ended Mike Brown's 23-game hitting streak. The 18-year-old Toledo HS second baseman failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Mike, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Sandpipers skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Brown frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
