Breaking News Friday, May 15th, 2020: Sandpipers Stop Brown at 23 It was the best of both worlds for the Riverside HS Sandpipers today at Sea Dogs Ballpark as they defeated the Toledo HS Sea Dogs 8-5 and also ended Mike Brown's 23-game hitting streak. The 18-year-old Toledo HS second baseman failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats. "Nothing personal against Mike, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Sandpipers skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing." When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, Brown frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game." To date this season Brown is hitting .337 with 1 home run. Monday, May 11th, 2020: Brown Keeps Hit Streak Alive Today at Sea Dogs Ballpark Toledo HS lost to Newark HS 9-6, but Mike Brown kept his consecutive-game hitting streak alive with 1 hit. The Sea Dogs second baseman has now delivered hits in 20 straight games. M. Brown flied out in the 1st, struck out in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th. This year Brown is hitting at a .335 pace with no home runs and 22 RBIs. He has played in 34 games and scored 28 times.
