Saturday, August 1st, 2020: Gabriel Hurls Masterpiece
Long Island pitcher Gabriel Gabriel gave the Akron Beacons fits today as he blanked them 10-0 on 3 hits. He registered 4 strikeouts and 2 walks in the shutout.

His manager said, "When he's locating his pitches, he becomes unpredictable. He had Akron guessing the entire game."

In 24 starts this season Gabriel has compiled a 11-11 record and a 4.65 ERA.
Wednesday, July 29th, 2020: O'Herlihy Struts Stuff in Akron Win
Teddy O'Herlihy of the Olympia Oligarchs whitewashed the Akron Beacons 4-0 in a complete-game win, limiting them to 4 hits while chalking up 8 strikeouts and giving up no walks.

Talking to BNN writers after the game, his manager said, "He's got the makeup. He's not afraid to challenge guys. Teddy is pretty poised out there. He knows how to pitch and how to use his stuff."

This year O'Herlihy has worked 135 innings with 142 strikeouts en route to a 10-5 record and a 3.00 ERA.
Thursday, July 23rd, 2020: Gems Chill Velásquez's Hot Streak
Salvador Velásquez of the Akron Beacons came up empty at the plate today and went hitless in 4 at-bats. That put a quick end to his 26-game hitting streak. To make matters even worse, Akron dropped the game to the Quincy Gems 7-2.

In a post-game comment Velásquez told the press, "It was not a good day today. We lost the game and the streak is over."

This year Velásquez has hit at a .310 clip with 100 hits, 9 home runs, 46 RBIs and 29 runs scored.
