Breaking News | | Monday, August 10th, 2020: Johnson Rips Anchorage for 5 Hits It was a good day for the Ducks at Cloudbursts Ballpark as they clipped the Anchorage Rowdies 11-0. It was tremendous day for Justin Johnson, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 5 barrage.
The Long Island shortstop told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
J. Johnson doubled in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off R. Rojas in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
In this current campaign Johnson is hitting at a .304 clip with 10 home runs and 69 RBIs. | | Monday, August 10th, 2020: Márquez's Season Could be Over The season is apparently over for Jorge Márquez. The Long Island Ducks medical staff informed the club that the starting pitcher will be out at least 10 months with a torn back muscle. Márquez was hurt in the game against Anchorage while throwing a pitch. The doctors did not think he would recover prior to the end of the season.
To date this year in 26 starts, Márquez has crafted a 9-11 mark with a 4.49 ERA. | | Monday, August 10th, 2020: Week's Best Player: Long Island's Edwards Jim Edwards of the Long Island Ducks had an award-winning week and today was voted the Player of the Week by the Sub League 1.
For the week the 21-year-old left fielder batted .500 (10-20) with 2 home runs and 2 RBIs.
In 107 games this season Edwards has batted at a .268 pace with 114 hits and 12 home runs. | | | Team Information | Record overall | 64-56, .533 PCT | Position in Division | 2nd, 6.0 GB | Record at home | 36-24, .600 PCT | Record on the road | 28-32, .467 PCT | Record in X-inning games | 4-3, .571 PCT | Record in one-run games | 14-13, .519 PCT | Record versus LHP | 11-8, .579 PCT | Record versus RHP | 53-48, .525 PCT | Record last 10 games | 5-5, .500 PCT | Record in April | 21-7, .750 PCT | Record in May | 16-13, .552 PCT | Record in June | 12-13, .480 PCT | Record in July | 10-19, .345 PCT | Record in August | 5-4, .556 PCT |
