Bill Crowder was stingy with runs in his latest outing against the Dutch Ovens. He shut them out 8-0 on 3 hits with 5 strikeouts and 3 walks.
The Anchorage manager said, "Bill was very aggressive tonight. He threw everything he had with a lot of confidence."
The losing manager had praise, too. "He was throwing strikes with all his pitches and mixing it up well. Crowder has a sneaky fastball, and whatever that offspeed pitch was, it was keeping our timing off."
In 19 starts this season Crowder has fashioned a 6-8 record and a 4.43 ERA.

| Wednesday, July 29th, 2020: Santos Holds Dutch Ovens Scoreless
A masterful pitching performance carried the Anchorage Rowdies to a 5-0 victory over Amsterdam. Jesús Santos held them scoreless in a complete-game effort. He permitted 1 hit, had 3 strikeouts and allowed 3 walks.
The skipper of the Dutch Ovens said, "Santos was sharp. We never did figure him out."
Season-to-date Santos has rung up 8 wins and 10 losses in 24 appearances. He has an ERA of 3.72 and has fanned 128 batters in 162 innings.

 | Tuesday, July 21st, 2020: Velásquez Sizzles with 25-Game Batting Streak
Long hitting streaks don't happen very often and when they happen it perks up everybody's interest. No one knows how long it will go -- it could end tomorrow - but baseball fans and Salvador Velásquez are enjoying the moment right now. The 20-year-old Akron right fielder extended his string to 25 consecutive games in Ballpark of Saint Paul today. Velásquez got 1 hit, but the Amsterdam Dutch Ovens got the victory. They toppled the Beacons 6-4.
S. Velásquez grounded out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, flied out in the 5th, flied out in the 6th and grounded out in the 9th.
In 2020 Velásquez has hit at a .312 clip with 98 hits, 9 home runs, 46 RBIs and has scored 29 times.
