Everything clicked on the hill today for John Okane of the Hickory Huskers as he hurled his club to a 4-0 shutout win over the Cleveland Steamers, limiting them to 5 hits while recording 2 strikeouts and yielding 1 walk. He overpowered some batters with his fastball and buckled knees with his sharp breaking pitches.
"We had our shot at him a couple of different times," the Steamers manager said, "but we weren't able to get to him."
Thus far this season, Okane has worked 209.1 innings with 123 strikeouts en route to a 12-12 record and a 4.34 ERA.

 | Saturday, September 19th, 2020: Gossard Goes 5-8 Against New York
It was a good day for the Steamers at Old League Park as they clipped the New York Gothams 8-7. It was tremendous day for Herman Gossard, who went on quite a hitting spree with a 5 for 8 barrage.
The Cleveland catcher told reporters after his big 5-hit performance, "I don't have any buzz words. I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' as they say. As far as the hitting goes, I try to keep it simple. I try not to look into it too much. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then try to hit it. Today I picked up the spin very well."
H. Gossard singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, singled in the 9th, flied out in the 10th, singled in the 13th and hit a solo-shot off O. Avendaño in the 15th.
Gossard is hitting .259 this season with 8 home runs, 64 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He has 127 hits in 491 at-bats.

Fans at Old League Park witnessed the Huskers blank the Steamers behind a superb effort by Richard Shipp. The Hickory pitcher allowed 2 hits in recording the shutout.
Shipp has started 26 times this year, pitched 180.2 innings, fanned 187 batters and walked 88. His current record is 6 wins and 16 losses with a 5.38 ERA.
