Breaking News | | Friday, October 9th, 2020: Mashers Triumph in 2020 Cecil Cup It was a storybook year for the Maui Mashers as they closed out a 4-3 series win over the Seattle Monarchs to claim the 2020 Cecil Cup. They wrapped it up with a 5-1 victory to cap an incredible season and brought home their 2nd championship.
The Mashers manager gave his view of the series, "We had a lot of things going for us, offense and defense doing it at the right time. That's what it takes to win a Cecil Cup."
"We're disappointed we lost, but we're also very proud of what we did all year," said the Monarchs manager. "They played better baseball than us and they beat us."
During the SDMB League Signorino Division regular season Maui put up a 100-62 record and finished first. | | Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020: Hernández Pitches Way to Triple Crown Enrico Hernández of Seattle has done what few pitchers in SDMB League have been able to do. He's won the Triple Crown, leading the league in all three major categories: wins, ERA and strikeouts. The Monarchs star finished 2020 with a 23-6 mark to pace the SDMB League in wins. He also posted a league best 2.07 ERA and topped the league with 237 strikeouts. A season good enough to put him as a strong favorite to take the SDMB Outstanding Pitcher Award.
"His level of consistency is amazing," said the Monarchs manager. "Enrico goes out there every time he gets the ball and keeps you in the game. You know that when he's on the mound, you have an excellent chance at winning the game."
Hernández is a low key kind of guy. He is very proud of his wins, but not really excited about his unique accomplishment this season. He admitted to the press, "Maybe, just maybe, I'll look back on this Triple Crown when I retire and smile. But for now my stats are for my kids to brag about and for the media-types who love talking about numbers." | | Monday, September 14th, 2020: SDMB League Picks Top Player His hard work and hustle paid off this week. The hard-working and hard-playing Jonathan Anderson was rewarded with the SDMB League Player of the Week honors.
The scrappy Seattle Monarchs right fielder hit .600 while collecting 18 hits in 30 at-bats, 7 home runs and 15 RBIs.
Anderson is currently hitting at a .321 pace with 38 home runs and 82 RBIs. | | | Team Information | Record overall | 108-54, .667 PCT | Position in Division | 1st, - GB | Record at home | 50-31, .617 PCT | Record on the road | 58-23, .716 PCT | Record in X-inning games | 7-6, .538 PCT | Record in one-run games | 15-24, .385 PCT | Record versus LHP | 25-11, .694 PCT | Record versus RHP | 83-43, .659 PCT | Record last 10 games | 7-3, .700 PCT | Record in April | 15-13, .536 PCT | Record in May | 22-7, .759 PCT | Record in June | 16-11, .593 PCT | Record in July | 17-12, .586 PCT | Record in August | 23-6, .793 PCT | Record in September | 15-5, .750 PCT |
